BOTTOM BASE
There are 2 versions of this container cover: V1) with the fuzzy side edges, and V2) without the fuzzy side edges (only the top is fuzzy). Depending on the version, make the bottom base to these dimensions:
(V1): Chain the length of your container, where the "Length" (# of stitches per row) is the longer measurement of the base. Your "Width" (or # of rows) will be the width of your container.- As you work up the Height, you should notice the cover being slightly loose over your container.
(V2): Chain the length of your container, then subtract 3 chains. The "Length" (# of stitches per row) will be slightly shorter than your actual container length. Likewise, your "Width" (or # of rows) will be 2-3 rows less than the width of your container.
- As you work up the Height, you should notice the cover snuggly stretches and fits into over your container.
(working in rows, in a rectangular shape)
R1: Chain to the Length of your container, ch1 for turning chain
R2: sc in the back bump across all stitches, ch1
R3 & beyond: sc across all stitches, ch1 (repeat until the desired Width)
(See photo) We will now work up the height of the container. Make a marker on the 4 corner stitches of your shape. Notice how the 2 sides that are parallel to the horizontal lines have clean "V" stitches, while the other two are jagged from the last sc + turning chain. Because of this, we will do different stitches depending on which side we're currently working on.
HEIGHT
R1: sc across the jagged edge (# of sc = # of rows you made), sc inc in the last stitch of this row/the corner stitch.
R2: sc blo across all stitches, sc inc in the last stitch of this row/the corner stitch.
R3: repeat R1
R4: repeat R2, slst in the first stitch of R1, ch1
We will used the waistcoast stitch for the rest of the height: instead of inserting you hook through the front+back loops (that you se from the top of a sc), insert your hook in the middle of the post, between the “V”(See photo) Then, complete the stitch just as you would a sc.
you can use the (mini) tutorial in my youtube vlog to reference! (timestamp 2:41-3:54)
R5 & beyond: waistcoat stitch across all stitches, slst, ch1
(repeat until your 1 row short of your container's height)
