crochet pattern | illit DO THE DANCE cat headband

 


⚘ the crochet cat headbands seen in one of illit's stage performances. This project took me less than an hour; it's definitely beginner-friendly pattern and low-sew!!

Materials I Used

  • Big Twist Acrylic Yarn | Color: Sky Blue | Weight: Medium (4)
    • ~ less than 1/6 a skein used 
  • 4.0mm crochet hook
  • Crochet needle

Abbreviations

ch - chain

st - stitch

slst - slip stitch

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet (US)

inc - increase

dec - decrease

✦✧✦ PATTERN ✦✧

STRAND

R0: Make slip knot. Ch 36 (or more). Skip 1 st and slst in every stitch. (35)

HEADBAND

R1: ch3, 3dc in the 4th ch from the hook, turn (3)

like so:

R2: ch3, dc inc in first st, 1dc in next st, dc inc in third st, turn (5)

R3: ch3, dc inc in first st, 1dc in next 3 st, dc inc in last st, turn (7)

R4: ch3, dc inc in first st, 1dc in next 5 st, dc inc in last st, turn (9)

R5-23 (or more): ch3, 1dc in each stitch, turn (9)

R24: ch3, dc dec in first st, 1dc in next 5 st, dc dec, turn (7)

R25: ch3, dc dec in first st, 1dc in next 3 st, dc dec, turn (5)

R26: ch3, dc dec in first st, 1dc in next st, dc dec, turn (3)

R27: ch1, skip 1 st, sc dec in last st (1)

STRAND

R28: ch 36 (or match your first strand), skip 1 st, slst in every stitch

Fasten off and weave the loose ends.

CAT EARS (Make 2)

R1: ch3, skip 2, 3dc into first chain (3)

R2: ch2, dc inc in first st, 1dc in next st, dc inc in third st, turn (5)

R3: ch2, dc inc in first st, 1dc in next 3 st, dc inc in last st, turn (7)

R4: ch2, dc inc in first st, 1dc in next 5 st, dc inc in last st, turn (9)

R5: ch2, dc inc in first st, 1dc in next 7 st, dc inc in last st, turn (11)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

ASSEMBLE

Sew the two cat ears onto the headband, making sure that they are even and secure. Weave in the loose ends. 
Since we used acrylic yarn, the ears should hold its shape well. Optionally, you can bend the ears too! (See photos). 

...and that's the whole project! super easy but so cute!

  1. Whatsup currently making this! R1 is pretty unclear imo, they meant crochet 3 then go back to the last stitch from R0 and do 3DC in that one same stitch. based on how its written i thought i had to do the dcs in the 3rd chain crochet TT

    1. ohh! you're right ty for clarifying! i updated the pattern so hopefully it's more clear :) these patterns represent how my brain works as i'm freeforming (hence why theyre free) so i appreciate when ppl share how the pattern is for them <3
